Ice Harvesting Festival
We channeled our inner Kristoff at the Ice Harvesting Festival!
We sawed blocks of ice, weighed them, made ice cubes, went kicksledding
and learned how to escape after falling into the water. The most
exciting part? While we were watching the water rescue demonstration,
the ice buckled under all of us spectators! We left feeling thankful for
our refrigerators.
Drilling holes and testing depth.
Sawing away!
Making ice cubes.
Water rescue (made extra dramatic by the ice buckling under us spectators!)
We love kick sleds!
Taking all sorts of measurements.
Playing the Native American game of snow snakes.
Learning how to save herself if she falls into the water by using a special ice pick tool.
Scoring the ice.
Drilling holes and testing depth.
Sawing away!
Pulling out the huge blocks of ice!
Getting ready to weigh the block!

Frozen Falls
We visited frozen Minnehaha Falls. Wow! You can actually see the
water rushing down under the ice. Afterward, food and games at
Chatterbox.
Crash!

Friends and Flowers
We went to the Arboretum to see the orchid tree and hang out with good friends. Flowers and friends are a good combination!

Science Museum
We spent a day at the Science Museum. We constructed a sand sweeper, inspected our cheek cells, created fake
body casts, and watched an Omni film. We purchased a membership, so I'm sure we'll return soon!

King Cake and Games
What to do on a frigid snow day? Make King Cake
and dig out bins of my childhood games. Lite-Brite, Mr. Mouth, Pig Pong,
Sweet Pickles, Snoopy's Doghouse and more. So much FUN!

Cross-Country Skiing
We have been cross-country skiing quite a bit! The first time at Hyland was a little difficult. There was fun, and then a big hill, and then lots of sliding backwards and falling. Then, tears and full-on
wailing. Then an angel (in the form of a ski coach) appeared and scooted
Willa up the hill. Then, there was a great recovery and we did it again
- happily!
The second time at Hyland was better. We went with friend, Mia, and the girls had a great time.

We have also been skiing at our usual spot: Wood Lake. We love it!
