Road Trip Day 1: Corn Palace

We are on a road trip to the Black Hills! Our first day was mostly driving, but we did have one stop: the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota! And shucks, we had bushels of fun!

Actually, it was underwhelming, but we warned the girls about that in advance, so we had a good time! We liked seeing the murals made out of corn cobs, especially the middle one below of the outhouse and skunk!

We are now at Range Country in Murdo where we are in between time zones! Our computer says one time and our phones say another!

This evening was spent at the pool...the girls were in heaven! For dinner, we had pizza with a surprise dessert! The edges of the pizza crust were sprinkled with cinnamon, and they provide frosting for dipping!

The girls said they've loved this trip so far, and hopefully it will just get better as we go! Tomorrow we are off to the Badlands!

Father's Day

For Father's Day, we went to brunch at Pizza Luce, and had dessert at my parents' place. Joe requested carrot cake, and the girls helped me make it. It was truly a labor of love as there were multiple carrot grating injuries! Thankfully, everyone enjoyed it!

Afterward, we went to one of our favorite play areas - Elm Creek Park Reserve. It was a fantastic day and we are so lucky to have such wonderful dads in our lives.

Happy Father's Day!

Now I'm a soccer mom.

I think Jia has found her sport! She had her first soccer game tonight and loved it! After her game tonight, Jia said she liked playing at the park 1/6 as much as playing soccer, and eating ice cream 1/2 as much, and noted that she really likes playing at the park! We're glad she enjoys soccer so much.

Mazes, Forts and Fairies!

We spent a beautiful day at the Arboretum. We had a picnic, made forts, played with fairies, and got lost in a maze!

Cacophony

While going through Jia's schoolwork, I had to laugh at her vocab worksheet. She provides a vivid description of the word "cacophony."

Midsommar

The girls learned all about the Swedish Midsommar celebration at the American Swedish Institute. They danced around the majstång and made maypoles of their own, along with a flower wreath to wear! The laughed at the quirky cartoon, Moomin, as well!

Artistry in Motion

Very proud of our hard-working ballerina and tap dancer! She did a great job today!
