We spent the morning at Nevada's oldest state park with Joe's sister, our niece, and her two boys. Petroglyphs, red sandstone everywhere, lots of caves... it was a breathtaking place, like being on Mars.

A Las Vegas Thanksgiving - Day Two
We started the day by visiting Red Rock Canyon. Rock climbing is good for the soul.
Willa wanted to climb and explore forever!
Later, we celebrated family and had a fantastic (early) Thanksgiving meal.

A Las Vegas Thanksgiving - Day One
We traveled to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving. It was the first time the girls met anyone from Joe's family! They all moved over the years to Las Vegas so it was time to visit. We stayed at the Venetian. Our room was fantastic.
First, Joe's comments:
Lows are supposed to be in the 20s the rest of the week so the ladies are getting their swim on in the heated pools while we sip wines in funky plastic carafes from the hotel gift shop. Our version of Vegas suits me just fine.
My recap of the day:
Our Las Vegas adventures today included swimming in gorgeous pools, dancing fountains, seven miles of walking, talking trees, feeding homeless people, and Jia repeatedly saying, "Wow, that's inappropriate!" After experiencing the spectacle of the Strip, we are looking forward to doing some hiking tomorrow and having the girls meet Joe's family here!

Willa turns 8!
This week our sweet Willa donated half of her piggybank to charity and
organized a winter coat drive for needy kids. She is such a treasure.
Willa is celebrating her 8th birthday today by getting two new holes in
her head (and missing her two front teeth)!
