Our Spirited Girls

Jia had a lot of fun dressing up for school each day for Spirit Week.

Monday: Pajama Day

Tuesday: Hat Day

Wednesday: Career Day
Jia was a fashion designer! So appropriate.

Thursday: Favorite Book Character Day
Jia wore her makeshift Hermione Granger costume. I love how it turned out. My favorite parts are the book (A Field Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians) and the chopstick wand. And, of course, the happy girl!

Harry Potter (Cousin Han) joined us as well!

Friday was school colors day and she wore her school shirt. What a fun week!

We also attended a Girl Scouts bridging ceremony where Jia went from Daisy to Brownie! On an actual bridge!

They had fun playing too!

Finally, I have to share this video of Willa. She loves doing the monkey bars so much that she gets often gets blisters on her hands! She is terrific at them and could do them for hours. Her line of the day (as encouraged by Joe): "What'd I tell you, I'm amazing." Love her big smile at the end.

Busy

The end of school is such a busy time! We have two pizza parties, a music performance, a poetry reading breakfast, field day, art show, plant sale, card sale, Mother's Day school tea, school camping trip, school carnival, Chinese program, class game day, and two all-day class trips to the park. We are attending most of these events (and the girls are attending all of their respective events). Plus, this week is Jia's dress up week at school (Monday: Pajama day, Tues: Hat day, Wed: Career day costume, Thurs: Fave book character costume, Friday: School spirit wear. Not to mention homework, swimming lessons, Chinese class, birthday parties, Mother's Day, an old neighbor good-bye party, a new neighbor welcome party, out of town trips, playdates and Girl Scouts. All in the span of a few weeks. Phew!

Here are a few pictures from what we've been up to lately.

This is from Jia's art show:

Here is Jia prior to her school performance:

She was an announcer again! My nephew Han was one, too. They both did great.

We were also lucky that Jia and her friend Mia performed a dance right next to our seats!

The girls had a burial for Ginger, the one-legged moth they found, which didn't make it. It reads, "Ginger's buried here. She had a great life."

The girls received some new pajamas to match their dolls.  They were so excited!

Willa enjoyed a hail storm in true Willa fashion last night!

 More to come! (Sometime!)

Mother's Day

We had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. We had lunch with our family on the day itself:

We also spent time at the Arboretum. It was beautiful out! We enjoyed the gardens:

We learned about sunflowers:

And we hiked and played in forts.

The nature and family time truly fed my soul. It was a great weekend. Hope all the other moms and moms-to-be enjoyed it too!

Flowers, Farm Babies and Space

Yikes, it has been busy lately! In an attempt to catch up, I have some pictures of our recent adventures.

We attended a flower show with friends, Susie and Katie:

We also hung out with some farm babies at the zoo:

Finally, Jia and I attended a Girl Scouts event about space. The projects were beyond cool. For one project, Jia made a keychain of clear beads. They told her to attach it to her backpack because it would protect her from the sun. How? The beads are UV sensitive and change color in sunlight, indicating when she needs to wear sunscreen or other protection. How fun!
