Llovable Llama Farm
We bought a Groupon for a llama farm visit not knowing what to expect
and just had the BEST time there! Rick, owner of 72 llamas, gave us a
personal tour of his farm for the entire morning and we learned all
about the sweet animals. The girls pet, groomed, fed, and walked the
llamas (he chose llama Willow for Willa) and held the babies! Llamas
like to kiss you - who knew? And there was no spitting. The girls spent
as much time as they wanted on each activity. In the end, Jia said,
"That was pretty great as far as family activities go!" (Tween
compliment.) Willa said, "We sure got to hug a lotta llamas!"

March for Science
What a beautiful day for a march! Three eagles joined us!
The March for Science culminated in a chemical concoction.

ACLU Signs of Resistance
The ACLU partnered with the local design community for a protest
sign show where attendees purchase a sign and the proceeds go to the
ACLU. There was a contest to choose artists to create signs and they
chose Jia as one of their artists! She was only kid to produce a sign
for the show. She was SO EXCITED and created a sign about
climate change. She chatted all night with attendees who were impressed by her talent and advocacy. We are so proud of her!
We bought a sign for Jia to thank her for her hard work for the show. This was her choice.

Way to go, Jia!

Easter
Easter gathering = brunch, Bloody Marys and Mimosas, egg hunt, candy
trading, sunshine, mud pies, and lots of laughs (as some children are
more skilled than others at "Pin the Tail on the Bunny").
Note to the Easter Bunny: Do not give children complicated origami kits
in their Easter baskets when parents are trying to prep for hosting
Easter. Thank you.

Willa Day!
Today marks 9 years with our sweet Willa! We surprised her with a hotel
stay where she could swim with her mermaid tail (her favorite thing) and
she picked sushi for dinner. We are so thankful she is in our lives.

Science Fair
What do you know...Willa's science fair project actually had interesting
and unexpected results! Her topic: guinea pig food preferences. She
chose 16 different foods (a mix of new and usual foods) and split them
into 4 tests of 4 foods. She put the foods in one end of the cage and
the guinea pig in the other to see which food it would eat first. She
recorded the results and did the same for the other guinea pig. They
chose the exact same foods! Some were new and some were usual. Best
smell? Hive mind? It was a fun experiment.

San Diego and Miramar
A few snaps from my work trip to San Diego. The Fairmont Grand Del Mar and beach nearby was gorgeous.
We spent a night at the Miramar Base (remember Top Gun?) gasping at
the fly-bys and chatting with the adorable, enthusiastic pilots. We
learned about their training. Their backgrounds. Their aspirations. And they talked about being deployed. I don't know what lies ahead
for them and I'm sure they don't either. My heart goes out to these
very brave, very young souls.
