This Tuesday, we will celebrate the
Harvest Moon Festival. We purchased lotus seed paste and red bean
mooncakes from a local Chinese-run bakery. The pastries have an egg yolk inside, which represents the moon. We plan to lay outside on a blanket and gaze at the bright moon while drinking hot tea and eating
mooncakes.

This holiday is right up
Jia's alley as she is all about the moon - and eating! The bakers gave her a cookie too so we're off to a good start!
Is anyone else celebrating? What are you doing for it? I'd love ideas for years to come.

We read 'moon' books and this year I am making "rabbit in the moon cookies" I can't eat a mooncake..yuck. I hope you guys like them but I would have a moonpie as backup LOL
I love the Moon Festival too. We just went to our local FCC celebration Sat. night.
Hi Jane,
Can I ask what Chinese bakery you went to? We have not had mooncakes before.....not sure I can eat them either....the ingredients sound rather interesting! Let us know if you like them!

I love August Moon Festival and mooncakes. As children, we would celebrate by carrying brightly lit lanterns around the neighborhood. Enjoy your Moon Festival, Jia!!!!
