Pinyin

Although our agency provided a translation of Hsin-Yen's name as hearty, pretty girl, I tried to translate it myself via the pinyin dictionary to gain all the various meanings. (For those of you who don't know, pinyin uses the Latin alphabet to represent sounds in the Chinese language.) I couldn't find any part of her name.

Then, my friend Echo, who emigrated from mainland China, told me that Taiwanese pinyin is different than Mandarin pinyin. So, I scanned the characters of her name and showed them to Echo. She translated their meaning for us, and translated them into Mandarin pinyin. In Mandarin, her name is Xin-Yan, which she said means "beautiful heart." How sweet is that!

It is a treasure of a name under either translation.

Hi Jane,
Thank you so much for your post to our blog. We just received a referral for our second daughter from Qichen, Hubei. You mentioned that there is a Yahoo group. Would you be so kind as to email me the info. I can't seem to find it.
Thank you and I am so excited to learn more about Hubei!
Hugs,
