Apparently we're a bunch of Neanderthals over here

We are all going a bit stir crazy during our kitchen renovation/small addition. We're cooped up into two small rooms with some of our old appliances, and there has been lots of noise and disruption. We had another setback on the remodel as well. I was trying to sort out the details when Jia kept asking me if she could eat an egg. I said I'd help her in a minute.

Then I suddenly saw something small and white whizzing across the room. She had thrown a raw egg against the wall! It oozed behind the couch, over an outlet and behind the temporary fridge and all over the base molding and floor. In her defense, she thought it was hard boiled. (But do we throw hard boiled eggs? Of course we don't.) She told me she did it because "Grandpa does that for fun." Poor Grandpa, troublemaker once again.

Jia has really never done anything like this, and she wasn't even mad when she threw it. She was just overly excited. I think we were both in shock afterward. She instantly helped clean up. Then I noticed another raw egg smashed on the dining room table. I could tell that she had tried to peel it for eating, so there wasn't as much concern for that one.

Then later that night I was giving Jia some dinner and turned around. She had removed her shirt and had spread her dinner all over one arm and was licking it off! Then she smiled and said, "I'm getting a bath tonight!"

And she spent most of the day wearing her Halloween fangs, and looking like this. In fact, we spent a good portion of the day with diapers on our heads listening to music and spinning around in the office chairs. Maybe we need to get out more?

Wow. We've had one of those weeks, as well. I admire your patience with the egg situation :)

I sympathize with the kitchen situation. That must be insane. Do you have an estimate for when things will be back to normal?

I love days like those.....it is in those days where the memories are created for a lifetime. I love living out loud even if it requires diapers on the heads. LOL sounds like fun...slippery and messy fun.

Oh, I think Jia and Haley could be BFF's!!

I hate renovations! They never go as planned. Hope it is all over soon:)

OMG!!!! Those pictures are so cute!!! It should be your Christmas card picture!!!! So funny that she put food all over her so she could have a bath (remind me I thought it was funny if Brady ever does that!!).

Small addition? Kitchen remodel? Do tell -- maybe in an off-line email. How exciting. We haven't been able to do any of that here, though I'd love to.

My girls won't go near hard boiled eggs. They'll eat scrambled, but that's where they stop. So, while your story may seem to be about stir-crazy-ness, it's also about your Jia's initiative and food tastes. :-) Diapers on their heads look cute.

By the way, it was 70 here today.

We're nearing the end of a few months of renovations ourselves. A few nights of having to go outside and around the house to get to a bathroom, moving our beds from room to room to room, redoing as XX and the dog forget and tromp on newly varnished floors, and entirely too much order-in. But thankfully, no egg tosses! Do love the DIY hats though!
