We're taking the plunge

Literally. We've decided to use cloth diapers with Hsin-Yen.

We've been trying to minimize our environmental footprint, so to speak. We often bring along reusable bags when shopping, we have a compost bin out back, we've switched a lot of our light bulbs to ones that use less energy. Joe makes his own eco-friendly cleaners. We're slowly changing our ways and trying to be more thoughtful about our impact.

Joe has always been quite green. On one of our first dates we went hiking and he spent the entire time picking up trash along the way. Although I didn't feel like holding his grimy hand, I was pleasantly surprised at his motivation. So, as we don't live in a drought-prone area, we have decided to give cloth diapering a go. It helps a lot that a friend is letting me borrow some diapers, that other friends are sharing lots of tips and tricks, and that Joe is mainly the one who does the laundry. ;-)

Good for you! What kind of diapers are you using? We use Fuzzi Bunz for Lauren (we used them for Aidan, too), and it's so easy. We have a wooden drying rack that we keep in the basement (where our laundry area is) and they dry really quickly on there. Hope your family enjoys the world of cloth diapering!

Kevin and I have been looking at fuzzi buns. I'm letting Kevin make the diapering decision, and he says that for now he wants to give cloth a try. I'm just glad that Kevin's the oen that will be doing the bulk of the diapering and laundry!

Wow, Jane, you go girl! I thought I was green because I buy organic and try to take my own bags to the grocery store:) I have thought about using cloth diapers for Kyan but just don't think we would have the time to keep up with the cleaning. You'll have to let me know how it goes.

Wow! I applaud your efforts to be more eco-friendly. Cloth diapers is a big step to take, I'm sure. By the way, do you know approx. how much longer before you travel to get your precious little girl?

Oh, Joe...we so could NOT be married I guess. I respect your decision but I don't have the stomach for it. Oh wait, he does the laundry so I wouldn't need to worry, ok then....

I think I was blessed that Annslee poop trained early...Malia will probably give me fits : )

I am trying to decide between your two "blog" shirts for Annslee...hmmmmm I have been waiting for Malia's referral to do "matching" ones but I just can't wait LOL

Thanks! You are officially added! In response to your question, I'd be honored. I am sure you are counting the days to April or May. At least with our experience, the second wait was easier because Leila kept us occupied. I hope you are finding that as well. It will be here before you know it!
