Jia has been begging for us to take her ice skating. It has been too cold. (In fact, our laundry detergent keeps freezing in our unheated basement laundry room so we've been storing it upstairs!) It was finally in the 20's yesterday so we took both girls. It was their first time. They were SO excited.

Jia did terrific and accepted a helping hand.

Willa was fiercely resolute about doing it by herself. She declared, "I'm going to do figure eights!" She kept trying to do fancy stuff and refused to let anyone hold her up.

She had a smile on her face the entire time!

Even when she fell.

And even when she
really fell!

A hot cocoa finish for our determined girls! (And sore backs for us!)

I know you must dread the cold weather, but I'm kind of envious of all of the fun things that you've been doing. Send some snow my way!!
Love their happy smiles and they looked thrilled to get their warm cocoa! Always the best thing after a cold day. Those ice sculptures were beautiful.
were you on skates too?
last time i went was probably two decades ago -- but we're going tomorrow!
any tips?
What a blast! Love the action shots too! I can not believe that your detergent freezes. That is just crazy! And that you have a basement, wow!
I'm glad Willa was okay on that fall...that picture is really awesome!! Looks like you all had a great time!!
