I told Joe about the encounter, and he took a glance at the Animal Humane Society website. This, of course, meant that we were all in. We found a cat who had been with kids and dogs. We then took the girls on a surprise adventure on May 15th. They were shocked and overjoyed when we arrived at the Humane Society.
We went in to visit the cat we had found on the site. Although it had been with kids and dogs, it was terrified of them. The workers told us that it was probably not the right pet for us, but that we really needed to meet a five-year-old tortoiseshell named Fuzzy.
We were initially hesitant because Fuzzy still has claws, but Fuzzy was indeed the right pet for us! When we brought her home, Willa said, "Tonight was the best night of my life!"
We followed all the rules about introducing a cat to a home with a dog, and Peanut and Fuzzy are terrific together! Fuzzy has the upper paw, as cats always do, but she and Peanut coexist wonderfully.
Fuzzy's sole purpose in life is to be cuddly. If you lay down, she will come and lay on top of you and purr away. If you sit in a chair, she will curl up on your lap. She has lots of energy and loves chasing after balls and jumping in the air to catch ribbons. She scratches her scratching mats and nothing else. She enjoys laying on our stuff, knocking things off tables and eating food we leave out the counter, in true feline form.
