We received two good pieces of information today: (1) the consulate told us that it had our file, that they did not need our I-171H (contrary to what they said before, but we'll take it) and that they have everything they need; and (2) our home study agency got USCIS to send a duplicate I-171H to the NVC this morning. The NVC will need to quickly get it on a plane to Taiwan (heard it takes four days to get there so we'll stay on top of that). I have the feeling that many things are getting lost in translation...but we're feeling a LOT better.
Thanks again for all the support. I feel like I've aged 10 years (and probably look it too).
Now a brief explanation on the name, Willa, for those who have been asking. It was on our short list, Joe's favorite, we like the author, and then I found out that Wilhelmina was the name of one of my ancestors (Willa is a derivative)! That made the decision very easy!
One of her middle names will be Joan. Joan was Joe's mom. She died suddenly on Nov. 12, 2006. We thought the timing was remarkable as Willa was born on Nov. 11, 2007, and giving her that name would be a perfect honor for Joan.
We will keep part of her Taiwanese name as another middle name.
Her name will likely be Willa Joan HsinYen!

I was wondering if you would be willing to talk with me more by e-mail regarding your Taiwan adoption. We will be celebrating our 1 year Gotcha Day Anniversary with our daughter from China, and have just applied with Commonwealth. jilbug@columbus.rr.com
