It's a funny thing when a new experience makes you see your child in a whole different light. We attended a party recently. In a house packed full of people, Jia, Willa and their cousin Han were the only children in attendance. Willa knew just a handful of people there. It was a special party for special friends and we arrived after Willa's bedtime. We have typically avoided these situations because I assumed they'd be no fun for the kids (or the adults). Boy was I wrong!
Willa charmed every person there. She completely worked the place. She greeted everyone with a hug or a handshake (that she initiated!), and would ask, "What's your name? I'm Willa!" She brought strangers food and they instantly became her friends. At one point, I saw Willa being carried around on a friend's arm at the buffet, where she was directing him on which foods she wanted on her plate. She said her "pleases" and "thank yous" and made conversation. After all the mingling and hors d'oeuvres, she gave lots of hugs good-bye and we got in the car. Then, like many a festive partygoer, she promptly threw up.
Our future socialite. Or politician. Whatever she'll be, she'll always have lots of people surrounding her!

This is a riot Jane! And the fact that she threw-up . . . so funny : )
I'm terrible at talking on the phone, one of these days!

Now you know why our 2nd child is called the Politician!! Isn't it funny how they seek out the attention?
I LOVE that Willa was having someone get her a plate of food
;-) Too funny!
Catching up: Glad the girls decided Santa was OK. We are going to try next weekend to visit Santa at the Mall - we'll see how it goes...
She is too much!! I was cracking up at the throwing up part! Just a little too much partying, huh?
Too funny, especially the part about throwing up!!! (for me, but probably not so much for you and Joe!!!). Your girls sound like the keep you entertained on a daily basis!! :-)
Zoe had a very strong simultaneous attraction-repulsion to St. Nicolas when he came to her preschool to hand out bags of goodies. She talked about him nonstop, and very excitedly described minute details of his brief visit. But when I said, "He'll probably go to Minnesota today, too!" She cried out, "No! He scary to me! His beard is too long!" She would not be talked out of the stance that he doesn't need to go anywhere other than back to his own house.
That is too funny, we were so happy that all of the kids came. I think you're right, Willa was totally working the crowd. I'm glad that I've been able to get to know the kids a little better these past few months.
